Frequently Asked Questions

If you purchased a vehicle on finance during, or after 2007 then it is likely that the car finance was mis-sold to you due to the car dealership failing to disclose commission they were paid by the lender for setting up your car finance.

Each car finance agreement could be worth on average £700 and from our experience most consumers have more than one agreement, meaning you could be owed on average £1,820*

There are several signs that may indicate you were mis-sold a PCP agreement, including:

  • Unclear or misleading information about the interest rate or terms.
  • Hidden charges or fees that weren’t explained to you.
  • Pressure tactics or fast-tracked decisions during the agreement.
  • You were sold an add-on product (like GAP insurance) that you didn’t need or understand.

If you think any of these apply to you, it’s worth checking with us. We can review your agreement and help you claim what you’re owed.

Your Lender may not have to respond to your claims until after 04 December 2025. The Financial Conduct Authority are presently undertaking a review of commissions paid in the motor finance industry, which is contingent on cases that are also being considered by the Courts. In light of this, the Financial Conduct Authority has paused the requirement for Lenders to respond to claims about some motor finance commission until 04 December 2025. The Financial Conduct Authority has indicated that they may have completed their review as early as May 2025 and if so, would seek to end the pause early.

The amount of compensation you may be entitled to is dependent on several factors, including the amount of finance your lender provided, the date the finance was taken out, the duration of the agreement, the interest rate you paid and the value of the commission payment your Lender made to the car dealership. Following the Financial Conduct Authority statement in October 2025, they now estimate that most individuals will probably receive around £700 in compensation per motor finance agreement where Discretionary Commission Arrangements or other unfair practices occurred.

Starting your claim with PCP Assist is quick and easy. Simply click the “Check Eligibility” button on our website, fill out a short form, and we’ll begin reviewing your case. It only takes a minute, and you’ll be on your way to potentially reclaiming money you’re owed!

Once we have all the information, we’ll reach out to your finance provider on your behalf to start the process of recovering any money owed to you. We’ll handle everything, keeping you informed along the way.

Even if you’ve paid off your PCP agreement, you may still be entitled to a refund for any mis-sold terms or hidden charges. We’ve successfully helped many clients reclaim money, even after their agreements were finished. Get in touch with us to see if you’re eligible.
